Commission a Custom Painting

Made to order watercolor painting!

Message me a photo of a favorite local place, a treasured vacation memory, a first-date restaurant, a wedding venue, a first-time home buyer’s house, a pet, etc. and I will do my best to capture the magic in a painting. These paintings make great gifts for anniversaries, retirement, birthdays, and other celebrations. 

Size is typically 5 inches by 7 inches, though if you require a custom size I may be able to accommodate it (larger sizes will cost more).

How it works:
1. Fill out an interest form (see below) and place an order for a custom painting (currently on Etsy) 
2. I will email you for more information, including the photo reference and any specific preferences 
3. I create your painting (process may take a week or two)
4. I send you a picture of the final product for approval prior to shipping
5. I ship your custom, hand-made painting to you!

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to receive my custom painting?

Every painting is made lovingly from scratch, and will take 2-4 weeks to create on average, and 1 more week for shipping. 

If a painting is needed sooner than that, please message me, as I might be able to accommodate a rushed timeline depending on my workload.

Cost varies on the size of painting, with smaller sizes being less expensive. Below are listed my rates for standard picture frame sizes:  

4×6 inches: $100
5×7 inches: $150
8×10 inches: $200
11×14 inches: $250 

I can accommodate non-standard sizes since each painting is created custom from scratch. If you desire a non-standard or larger size, please include this information in the interest form. 

I expect these prices to increase over time as my business becomes more established, so be sure to reach out sooner than later! 

Shipping is free within the United States. Tracking number will be provided. Smaller paintings are shipped in a plastic sleeve, taped between two pieces of cardboard for protection, in a flat mailer. Larger pieces will be shipped rolled in a tube for protection.

You will receive the original painting, hand-painted on cold-pressed cotton watercolor paper (300gsm/140lb high quality paper).

Some preferences you can specify include:

  • Addition of custom text captions (“I love you” or your address or anniversary date, etc)
  • Plain watercolor vs watercolor with an ink sketch (if no preference is indicated, I’ll make an artistic choice based on what I think would work better for your specific painting)
  • Minor modifications from the original photo (to emphasize or deemphasize a feature, slightly adjust perspective or color vibes, etc) 

I specialize in landscapes, city-scapes, and architectural structures. Portraits are not my specialty; I can do people in my paintings so long as they aren’t the main focus (faces are hard). I have done an occasional pet portrait, though my skills are still developing in this area.
